The Zuni tribes believe that by wearing animal fetish jewellery the attributes of the animal are bestowed upon the wearer. In this instance, the necklace features a mighty Turquoise Thunderbird, a powerful spirit which imbues the wearer with a long life and much success. The Thunderbird is surrounded by 16 wolves carved from countless semi-precious stones - black agate, red jasper, mother of pearl, onyx, turquoise, to name but a few. In legend, the wolf is the pathfinder, the teacher. Connected to the Moon, the wolf welcomes new ideas and strives for understanding. The Wolf is also the Guardian of the East, where the sun rises, giving the wolf powers of illumination. It is said, these powers will also be passed on to the wearer. Length: 74cm (29").
