A Slight Hiccup On Planet Janet

Having told you on August 7th in the blog “Life on Planet Janet” that navy is the new black, I am about to eat my words.
Black is numero uno on the runways, in the fashion mags, on the celebrities. Black reigns supreme. In fact, in the immortal words of The Rolling Stones “Black is Black”. Top of the Pops and Top in the Shops. The little black dress is now order of the day, rather than special occasion. All the new statement shoulder Dynasty/Dallas jackets are a big phat black. And the resurgence of the new Rock Chick sees Biker jackets galore on the High Street and they’re all black, black, black. And rightly so, because when you think about it, rock chicks new or old wouldn’t be seen dead in navy. And, frankly, Marianne Faithful in a navy all-in-one jumpsuit doesn’t bear thinking about, not the least because she’d look decidedly off-colour against the sleek black and silver Harley Davidson beast she was straddling! Add to that the change in weather and the overnight popularity of the Winter season’s other favourite colours – red and purple – which team so brilliantly with - yes, you’ve guessed it – black and you’ll see why I’m positively gagging to eat that blue word.
