Colour Me Beautiful

After the winter we’ve endured, I can’t wait to get some colour into my wardrobe. But I was thinking pastels – or pastelles as they laughingly were last year. You know the seasonal colours – pale pink, baby blue, eau-de-nil, blush or nude. But this year it’s brilliant. No literally brilliant. Electric, neon block brights have hit the runways and shops and it’s all ab fab.Shocking Pink, bright Citrus Yellow, Lime Green, bilious Tangerine and turquoise, turquoise, turquoise! Celebs, of course, have gone top to toe, knowing full well that neon and day-glo are absolutely certain to get you noticed. And the louder, stronger, brighter the better. Gwyneth’s already been papped going for a bright Tango effect. Whilst Kathryn Jenkins, opted for neon yellow and Leona Lewis went for the full clash, with a Lime Green top and Shocking Pin skin-tight skirt. Yes, it appears the rule book is out of the window because you can mix and match, contrast or clash. Just as long as you challenge a few optical nerves on the way! Thing is, I’m not doing it for the publicity, I just want to wake up my wardrobe. So I reckon I’ll just dip my toe in the colour block frenzy, by teaming the odd brand new electric bright item with some of Winter’s well-worn, tried-and-tested staples. It’s the best of both worlds and frankly the only time the paps pass my door is on their way to work! And naturally given I have a whole warehouse of jewellery at my disposal, I’ll get some bits from there, too.
